WHAT THEY SAY

"I used to be a car-body builder and to make good money. Every month I had a guaranteed salary for sure! Then my father-in-law passed away and me and my wife were at a crossroads: what shall we do with the vines? We looked at each other and made the decision. And here I am." 

The name Boffalora stems from the name of one of the farm's main vineyards and evokes the blowing of the wind. In the Valtellina valley the blowing winds are Breva and Tivano: Breva rises during the day from Lake Como and Tivano descends at night along the opposite direction.

 WHAT WE SAY

Boffalora is not only one of the most interesting wineries from Valtellina; it is one of the most interesting wineries from Italy. Giuseppe Guglielmo crafts the kind of wine that we wine geeks love. Complex, elegant and contemplative. Part of the vineyards are ancient and are still planted with hundred-year-old Chiavennasca (Local name for Nebbiolo) grapes. The legendary Sforzato is obtained from drying the best Chiavennasca grapes harvested in the most well exposed vineyard of Valtellina.
