WHAT THEY SAY

“Today Rainoldi is one of the most popular wineries in Valtellina.

The great success is surely due to quality and experience, two factors that place Rainoldi among the most refined wines in Valtellina. Our aim is to combine qualitative growth with respect for the environment, leading the company to the next generation.

The Rainoldi winery offers the most demanding and enthusiastic wine lovers a vast assortment that includes Inferno, Sassella, Grumello and Sforzato (or Sfursat) red wines.”

WHAT WE SAY

The Rainoldi family wines are crafted from stunningly steep vineyards in Valtellina, in the foothills of the Alps. The dry stone terraces provide great exposition to the ripening rays of the sun as well as protection from the harsher cold winds. The range highlights the versatility of the Chiavennasca grape (the local dialect name for Nebbiolo). The average age of the vines is 60 years old. The Grumello vineyards yield fresh and fruity wines and the iron rich soils of Sasella produce elegant wines with great ageing potential.

WHAT OTHERS SAY

“The Rainoldi 2013 Valtellina Superiore Sassella Vigna degli Apostoli is a new cru from this well-known vineyard, sitting at about 300 meters above sea level along the terraced, sandy and rocky banks of the Adda River. Although this is the first vintage made, the vines were planted in the 1950s. This lean-bodied expression of Chiavennasca greets the nose with elegant tertiary aromas that are deftly woven between some of the dark, crisp berry fruit that distinguishes the bouquet. There is dried cherry and crème de cassis with tarry notes of spice, smoke and crushed stone. The wine proceeds with a compact approach capped by fresh acidity and softly polished tannins. This wine is drinking beautifully in the here and now. “

WHAT THEY SAY

"Monte Rossa, a benchmark in Franciacorta, was founded in 1972 by Paola Rovetta, who served as the first chairman of the Franciorta Consorzio that was successful in gaining DOCG status for the appellation. Her son Emanuele Rabotti joined Paola in 1982 and ten years later, Monte Rossa celebrated its 20th anniversary with the first release of Cabochon, a magnum opus of Franciacorta that was the result of years of research and experimentation by Emanuele. Cabochon is a vintage Franciacorta, comprised of 70% Chardonnay and 30% Pinot Noir, that is fermented in first or second passage barriques from revered white wine producers such as Jermann, and is aged sur lie for 48 months. Monte Rossa was the first estate in the area dedicated to the exclusive production of Franciacorta and all of their cuvées are crafted in the fashion of great Champagne. They are committed to low yields during harvest, vinifying only the juice from the first pressing in their state of the art, gravity fed cellars, and use a large percentage of reserve wines in the assemblage order to consistently produce wines marked by elegance and finesse."

WHAT WE SAY

We are proud to present the stunning, delicate and refined Franciacorta sparkling wine range from Monte Rossa -an estate unique in Franciacorta in that it only produces sparkling wines. From the estate’s calling card – the Prima Cuvée -an immensely pleasurable wine made from Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and a small amount of Pinot Bianco, aged at least 20 months in bottle, through to the heavily awarded Cabochon -the most prestigious Franciacorta produced by Monte Rossa. Created by a careful selection of the finest grapes from the Monte Rossa hill. The first fermentation is made in barriques. Through the innovative use of technology, research and continuous experimentations in the cellar, the team at Monte Rossa continuously strive to produce ever better classic sparkling wines.

WHAT OTHERS SAY

“The non-vintage Franciacorta Brut P.R. is a streamlined and well-contained sparkler that doles out slow aromas of white flower, stone fruit, crushed mineral and blanched almond. The wine stands out thanks to the purity and elegance of its aromas. Only later do you notice those soft yeasty tones that fill in the rear so nicely.” - Monica Larner
