WHAT THEY SAY
Brigaldara's relationship with Valpolicella does not end with winemaking. It is the reinstatement of an ancient and visionary bond with its terroir. The retrieval of an organic dimension. The act of cultivating the land bearing in mind the importance of sustainability and of the natural synergies that take place in a balanced ecosystem.
WHAT WE SAY
Having named the company with the geographic coordinates of the Valpolicella (broadly speaking) in my mind it justifies the addition of this relatively young but incredibly traditional and yet forward-thinking winery. With vineyards also in the pristine, high-altitude zone of Case Vecie, Brigaldara offers a great range of taut, fresh and vibrant wines. Elegant and powerful some of them built to be enjoyable now (Valpolicella) and be cellared for long time (Amarone).
WHAT OTHERS SAY
“Brigaldara is one of the best wineries of the Valpolicella area. Owned by the Cesari family since 1929, the estate makes some of the purest, more graceful examples of Valpolicella and Amarone (especially) around, providing a welcome alternative to many of the area’s wines that boast much riper mouthfeels, thicker textures, and higher alcohol levels but that when made by lesser lights can be over the top.” (Ian D’Agata)
“The 2018 Amarone della Valpolicella Case Vecie is darkly alluring and brooding in the glass, with a dusting of confectionary spice and dried violets complementing wild blueberries and a lifting whiff of fresh mint. Soothingly round and surprisingly juicy in feel, this shows its minerality up front, as depths of tart wild berry fruits meet vibrant acidity, and an array of exotic spices emerges toward the close. It finishes tannic yet fresh and incredibly long, leaving a bitter blackberry crunch, violet inner florals and chalky concentration that boggles the mind. Bury the 2018 deep in your cellar, this is a long-distance runner.” 96pts Eric Guido, Vinous
