Winemaker: Helmuth Zozin
Hectares under vines: 50ha
Altitude above sea level: 230m to 550m
Average annual production: 350,000 bottles
Green code: Certified biodynamic

WHAT THEY SAY

Its roots go back to the early 1600s but Manincor is still a magnificent example of mixing old and new, functional and beautiful, natural and industrial.

Manincor wines have a strong personality provided by the natural diversity of sites and soil compositions. Vineyards are entirely cultivated on biodynamic principles and an uncompromising determination. Count Michael Goess-Enzenberg and his wife have applied the basics of sustainability when building their new cellar and winery in 2004.

WHAT WE SAY

Manincor wines are naturally pure. Long years of far-reaching development work are now bearing fruit (the conversion to Biodynamic principle only happened 10 years ago). One unique factor is that they harvest and air age their own oak trees, to make their barrels.

WHAT OTHERS SAY

‘Exceptional wines with a strong sense of place and lots of soul all reasonably priced and made with conviction in accordance with the criteria of biodynamic agriculture.’  Slow Wine Guide

Owner: Klaus Lentsch
Winemaker: Klaus Lentsch
Hectares under vines: 12ha
Altitude above sea level: 300m to 600m
Average annual production: 50,000 bottles
Green code: Committed to sustainability

WHAT THEY SAY

Klaus Lentsch, offspring of a long-established South Tyrolean winegrower family, decided in 2008 to take a new path and has been producing wines typical of the region since then.

Bachgart, Fuchslahn and Eichberg are the historical vineyards that he can call his own. Discover the variety of flavors of the Cru wines from the Eisack Valley, the fresh white wines from the Überetsch and the strong reds from the porphyry slopes in the lowlands.

WHAT WE SAY

The wines are as fresh and elegant as one would expect from the, stunning, cool-climate region where the Southern Alps become the Dolomites. Klaus owns three vineyards, each with unique soil and microclimates. The results are a striking range of aromatic and mineral wines with a clean, mountain-fresh purity.

WHAT OTHERS SAY

Falstaff Wine Guide on 2017 Gruner Veltliner Eichberg DOC. ‘Bright, bright straw yellow with a brilliant core. Very open and inviting nose of wet stone, delicate petrol, fresh and salty of lemon zest. Balanced and full on the palate, shows supple juice with a crisp body, builds up in many layers, long; a successful interpretation of the Veltliner. 92 points’

FAEDO | TRENTO
TRENTINO

Pojer+e+Sandri.jpg
Founded: 1975
Owner: Mario Pojer and Fiorentino Sandri
Winemaker: Mario Pojer
Hectares under vines: 30ha
Altitude above sea level: 400m to 700m
Average annual production: 200,000 bottles
Green code: Practicing not certified organic

WHAT THEY SAY

In their own words –‘1975, two young people, two hectares, few resources, some ideas, a lot of courage, a dream. To produce a quality wine from the vineyards between Valle dell’Adige and Valle di Cembra, to be specific on the hill of Faedo – a hill which, according to many, was not particularly dedicated to vine cultivation. The goal was to create a wine without chemicals, where everything must follow a logical thread towards purity. They visited wineries and vineyards in all wine-growing regions, taking notes on technical solutions and ideas for new products from each one, interpreting them and optimizing them fine-tuning to Trento’s key.

WHAT WE SAY

Mario & Fiorentino are heroic viticulturalists, pioneers and visionaries. The high altitude of the vineyards and the fresh breezes from Lake Garda produce beautifully clean and pure aromatics. They truly balance tradition with innovation. They have protected and revived local grape varieties but with a healthy respect for scientific experimentation and testing which they do in conjunction with the prestigious Edmund Mach foundation, a wine academy only a few kilometres away.

WHAT OTHERS SAY

‘A tireless yet histrionic duo….After 40 vintages, this Faedo winery’s prestige remains intact. The philosophy remains the same, with experimentation in both cellar and vineyard. All the products have an intense, enfolding character, and the quality is well expressed by the scores of their wines.’ Gambero Rosso Italian Wines.
